Punctuality |
|
Good punctuality at school is essential for students to achieve their full educational potential. It is also vital for students to form good habits for later life. In order to tackle persistent lateness to school and lessons the school will be introducing a late detention to be held afterschool. This is for students who are persistently late, one off occurrences due to medical or special educational needs will not trigger this detention. We are also mindful of public transport and school bus issues. If you have concerns regarding this matter please contact your son or daughter’s form tutor in the first instance. Mr Davies. |

Year 7 Charity Update |
|
Year 7 continue to work hard to fundraise for charity. To date we have seen two lunchtime bake sales: always a hit with the students (7.4 and 7.3), two hot chocolate and cookie lunchtime sales and a tuck shop – another one is planned! (7.9), a Super Mario tournament: lots of fun and excitement (7.7), a sponsored walk: some outstanding results so far (7.1), a penalty shoot-out against teachers: very well attended! (7.8) and coming soon, a pizza sale (7.6.). Watch this space for more charity events in the next few months.
Our chosen charity is Jacksplace.
“Jacksplace was built in 2010 as a hospice to offer care specifically for young adults aged 16 and over.
Jacksplace is the only hospice for young adults in our region, offering the care and support they need, but also giving them the independence, they often crave. We achieve this through 24 hour nursing care alongside activities and social events, both at the hospice and further afield.” |

Year 9 Behaviour Questionnaire |
|
We value the opinion of student voice, with that in mind all students in year 9 are being given the opportunity to complete a short survey on their experience of behaviour in their lessons. The link to the survey can be found on their MyHighcliffe home page or via the link here https://highcliffe.school/l/Y9BehaviourSurvey2022 The deadline for responses to this is 10am on 28th January. Please take the time over the coming days to discuss this with your son/ daughter and encourage them to complete the survey as honestly as they can. |

Year 13 UCAS University application process Huge congratulations to the students in Year 13 who have now all sent their UCAS applications off. They have shown great dedication in selecting universities and writing their personal statements with the support of their tutors, parents, Mrs Chalmers and Mrs Bower. Students are now starting to receive offers back.
Students and their parents should be reminded that they should take their time when accepting and rejecting their offers. Each student has an individual deadline which can be seen on UCAS track. Further advice on responding to offers can be found in the UCAS sharepoint accessed through students’ myhighcliffe.
Year 13 UCAS apprenticeships All students in Year 13 have also been registered for the UCAS Discover Apprenticeships online event on 9th February. The event runs live from 10am to 6pm, but is then available on demand until 23rd February. This event features everything you need to discover if an apprenticeship might be right for you.
Year 13 Leavers events The Year 13 Leavers team have been working hard preparing to launch the Leavers Celebrations. The launch will happen during Monday tutor time and Year 13 students should keep an eye out for an email containing further details. They will also have the opportunity in the coming weeks to have new photos taken for the year book. |
